Screen sizing is a crucial step in the final milling process for green coffee preparation. Milled coffee beans pass through a multi-tiered machine with screens of decreasing sizes. In Brazil, the first screen has wires spaced just under 8 millimeters apart. As the machine vibrates, beans smaller than 8 millimeters fall through to the next screen. This process continues with progressively smaller screens, down to a final screen size of 5.5 millimeters, ensuring only the desired bean size is selected for export.
